Sake Cups Made of Tin

Gold, silver, bronze, tin, etc. Drinking vessels made of metal can be found across the world. Among them all, tin has been used as a material for sake cups since ancient times and is said to offer high antibacterial effects and to mellow the flavor of the sake.

The high thermal conductivity allows tin to warm up and cool down quickly. Due to this unique feature, you can enjoy relatively quick changes of temperature when heating a tin decanter of sake in a bowl of hot water or warming a tin cup in your hands. If you want to maintain the temperature of your beverage, on the other hand, ceramic vessels are recommended.

Selecting a drinking vessel that provides preferred temperatures and flavor is one of the pleasures of Japanese sake.
